How we do emergency roof tarping in Valrico, FL
- Safety first. No one goes up during lightning. We check the roof can be walked before anyone climbs.
- Photos before. We photograph the damage before it's covered, so your insurer sees what happened.
- Over the ridge. The tarp runs over the peak and down past the damage, so water can't run under its top edge.
- Battens, not bricks.Wooden battens screwed down along the edges hold the tarp in Florida wind.
- Photos after, and a plan. You get photos of the tarp in place and a written plan and price for the permanent repair.
Why tarps fail
Most tarps that leak were put on wrong: not over the ridge, held down with bricks, or stapled through. Wind gets under the edge, and the tarp becomes a sail. A good tarp is fastened so wind can't get under it.
Tarping prices
Professional tarping across Florida typically runs $175 to $700, according to RoofVista's tarp cost guide. Large areas, steep or two-storey roofs, and storm demand push it higher. Emergency tarping in Valrico, FL is quoted before we start, even at night.
After the tarp
A tarp buys time. In Florida sun it won't last for months. Once the roof is dry, we trace the full damage and make the permanent repair. See storm damage roof repair and emergency roof leak repair.

What Valrico homeowners say
Roof tarping questions
How long does a roof tarp last in Florida?
A properly fastened, heavy-duty tarp usually holds for weeks to a couple of months. Florida sun breaks tarps down, so plan the permanent repair as soon as the roof is dry.
How much does emergency roof tarping cost?
Professional tarping typically runs $175 to $700, more for large areas, steep or two-storey roofs, or during heavy storm demand. You get the price before we start.
Can you tarp a roof at night?
We answer 24/7. If it's safe to work, with no lightning and a roof that can be walked, we can tarp after dark. If it isn't safe, we tell you how to protect the room and come out at first light.
Does insurance pay for tarping?
Tarping is usually treated as reasonable steps to prevent further damage, which most policies expect. Keep the invoice and the photos with your claim.
Can I tarp my own roof?
We don't recommend it. Wet roofs are slippery, tiles crack under foot, and a tarp held down with bricks or not run over the ridge often lets water in anyway.
